Carey was almost 5'10 tall before she stepped up to the leading model. She was a popular model was with American designers Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren was very high. Her father is an accomplished geologist who was voted Scientist Of The Year 1979 at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey was brought up across the globe because of her father's work. The model began modeling for a part-time basis while she was attending university at the University of Colorado and caught the attention of an agent for the Ford model Agency in New York. Following her move to France in the summer of 1999, where she lived at Paris, Bordeaux and New York and then New York, she made the decision to return to New York and continue her studies. Soon, Vogue, Glamour and other magazines included her on the covers. Between her modelling assignments she also studied literary studies full-time at New York University. Gradually she became interested in acting and studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. Her acting debut came through a tiny character in 'Club Pardise' in 1986 with Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys doing white-water rafting, skiing, wind-surfing and climbing rocks.
